Head for Pichilemu 2 h on the buss, there are two awesome point brakes there. La Puntilla is the point right in the middle of town and is wonderful. it is a lot easer to surf and more high performance than Punta da Lobos which is the really famous wave. La Puntilla is just unbelievable it has a sand bottom and a nice big lagoon, if you get really fucked you just get washed into deep water again its so easy so safe and so long.
Punta da lobos is probably one of the worlds best big waves its amazing but you have got to be in really good shape and ready to get scared shuttles.
They say that Chile has the most consistent surf in the world with 85% consistency at 8 to 10 feet bring a wetsuit ¾ if possible and get ready for the most amazing surfing experience of your life, I rode a triple overhead wave for 300m.
There is a guy called Elvis who has a little surf hut at the end of the point, and can rent you some equipment (you can probably rent my old board which I sold him when I left.)
