Oppdal can be excellent, and horrible. -30 and only a few hours daylight can be expected.

Yeah, It could be like that. We have been in Hemsedal in january 2009 and 2008. Weather has been always great! Lot of snow and about -15 degrees. Maybe we where just lucky??

You can go to Voss. If there's a lot of snow this winter I would check out voss resort, if not, go to myrkdalen, there's allways a lot of snow there. And Røldal is a place worth checking out. Both Sogndal and Ørsta/volda is good places to have as a base if you just wanna go toptur:)

</blockquote>I was a bit too negative in my last post. I prefer Oppdal to Hemsedal: it is not as happening but the skiing is better. This year was an exception: Hemsedal had great snow conditions, and Oppdal was out of luck. The good thing about Oppdal is that there is quite a few weather patterns close by, and that the ski touring that can be done close by is excellent. The areas close to Sunndalsøra and Storlidalen (a short drive from Oppdal) offer some excellent alpine touring.

I think I have already too much places to go!! I have same like feeling what you have, when you are renting a film. Just too many movies to see :wink

Well I just have to check out all those places. Or just flip a coin :grin

One thing I know. In january I want to go place where are lifts too. I want to have lot of repeats. That way I can get rid of all the summer rust! Topptur are best thing, but you join the tur lot of more, if you are confident and loosen up.
